Brian Jersky
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Brian Jersky joined California State University, Long Beach as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2016. 

As the chief academic officer, Dr. Jersky creates cohesive academic leadership for the university. By promoting excellence in all aspects of the university's academic areas, he provides direction in undergraduate/graduate education, research and creative activity, international education, community engagement, and faculty/staff development. Dr. Jersky is committed to maximizing degree potential for all students in a diverse and changing career landscape.

Dave MacLeod
CEO

Dave MacLeod is the CEO and Founder of Thoughtexchange. He leads a team responsible for bringing people together using simple software and the power of open-ended questions that get right to the heart of the matter. Dave’s interactive keynote and workshop sessions blend interactive group discussions, innovative technology and clever attempts to hide his Canadian accent.

James Martin
Professor of English and former Provost

James Martin is professor of English at Mount Ida College, where he earlier served as Chief Academic Officer and Provost. With Dr. James Samels, he has authored numerous books with the Johns Hopkins University Press: Merging Colleges for Mutual Growth (1994), First Among Equals: The Role of the Chief Academic Officer (1997), Presidential Transition in Higher Education (2004), Turnaround: Leading Stressed Colleges and Universities to Excellence (2009), The Sustainable University (2012), and, most recently, Consolidating Colleges and Merging Universities: New Strategies for Higher Education Leaders (2017).

James Samels
President and CEO

Dr. James E. Samels is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of both The Education Alliance and The Samels Group, a full-service higher education consulting firm specializing in academic planning and program development, enrollment management, campus, multi-campus and systemwide change management, strategic alliances, new academic program development, executive leadership search and organizational development, international education, and distance learning.

James DuMond, Jr.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. DuMond is the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Franklin Pierce University. Over the past year, he has ushered in a Master of Science in Accounting and assisted in procuring a $650,000 award from the National Science Foundation. Previously, he served as Dean of the School of Science at Marist College. He earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his M.S. in Industrial Hygiene from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology.

Nancy Targett
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Nancy Targett is provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of New Hampshire. Prior to coming to UNH, she was president at the University of Delaware. She also served as dean of UD’s College of Earth, Ocean and Environment and director of Delaware Sea Grant.Targett earned her doctorate in oceanography at the University of Maine, her master’s in marine science at the University of Miami and is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
