UB Higher Education Leadership Summit, September 2017

The Higher Education Leadership Summit will provide participants with opportunities for high-level networking and new thinking in key topics related to campus leadership, including technology solutions that are reshaping the higher education landscape.

Elliot Levine

Elliott Levine, HP Distinguished Technologist for Education, is a former K-12 school administrator and adjunct professor. Elliott has over 20 years’ experience in edtech at every level. He is a past columnist for the American School Boards Journal, has been interviewed by many leading educational publications and a speaker at national and international conferences. He serves on the advisory board of WNET and on the board of directors for nonprofit education companies and startups.

James Martin

James Martin is professor of English at Mount Ida College, where he earlier served as Chief Academic Officer and Provost. With Dr. James Samels, he has authored numerous books with the Johns Hopkins University Press: Merging Colleges for Mutual Growth (1994), First Among Equals: The Role of the Chief Academic Officer (1997), Presidential Transition in Higher Education (2004), Turnaround: Leading Stressed Colleges and Universities to Excellence (2009), The Sustainable University (2012), and, most recently, Consolidating Colleges and Merging Universities: New Strategies for Higher Education Leaders (2017).

James Samels

Dr. James E. Samels is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of both The Education Alliance and The Samels Group, a full-service higher education consulting firm specializing in academic planning and program development, enrollment management, campus, multi-campus and systemwide change management, strategic alliances, new academic program development, executive leadership search and organizational development, international education, and distance learning.

James Muyskens

James Muyskens is the Summit Chair, University Professor at the City University of New York, and former president of Queens College CUNY (2002-2013). He served as Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the University System of Georgia (1995-2002) and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas (1988-1995). He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Michigan and is the author of numerous books and articles in ethics and the philosophy of religion.
